Web design plays a significant role in your squeeze page conversion. Consequently this makes a huge difference in your bottom line.

Let us look at the following example. Say you send a 100 visitors to your website and you only achieve a five percent conversion. This means that you will get 5 subscribers for every 100 visitors. Now if you earn 1 dollar a month for each subscriber you will earn 5 dollars a month for getting a 100 visitors. If you were to increase the conversion of your squeeze page from 5 to 40 percent you will significantly increase your income from 5 dollars a month to 40 dollars a month getting the same traffic.

Let us look at ways that you can increase your conversion. The most important part is to have a page that loads quickly. It must load in under 10 seconds. If it takes longer to load then it is very likely that your visitor will lose interest and abandon the page.

I suggest that you split test different headlines as this will have the most impact on your conversion. It is very important that you find one that converts best. Similarly, split test different sales copy with different bullet points on your squeeze page that will determine which is the most effective.

Also place your subscription box in a prominent place above the fold as this will significantly improve conversion. If you include an ecover or eye grabbing graphic this will also boost your results. Finally, you can also use an audio testimonial that will grab the attention of the visitor and make them want to get the free information.

If you don’t make regular backups of your Joomla website, you are like a person with no health insurance: you’re fine until a disaster hits you. Don’t get caught without site insurance: Make regular, complete backups of your website.

A few of my clients have had their Joomla website hacked. In one case, the hacker got the client’s ftp and cpanel login info. She hadn’t changed it in several years. If the other cases, I think the hacker found a vulnerability in a Joomla extension. In all cases, the website was down and they were losing business and traffic every minute their site was down.

Some of these clients had a clean backup of their site, and some didn’t. The clients who didn’t have a clean backup of their site were in for a LOT OF PAIN. Without a clean backup of your site, you might be forced to completely rebuild your website. This could put your website out of commission for weeks.

A clean backup of your website is a backup of all your files, including the Joomla database, when everything was working correctly. Whenever you make significant changes to your website, you should make a backup, and store these backups on your computer. I recommend keeping several versions of the backups. For example, if you backup once a week, keep 10 weeks of backups. And remember, the more frequently you backup your site, the less work you will lose if you have to restore your website.

In addition to regular backups of your website, there are several other things you can do to prevent hackers from destroying your website:

Download and install the latest version of Joomla. Joomla continually creates security updates that will help keep your site more secure. Regularly change your passwords to Joomla, your hosting cpanel, your ftp, and any other accounts that can access your web site. Make sure your file and folder permissions are set correctly. Some of the information is pretty technical, but follow as many of the recommendations as you can. If you don’t understand the security recommendations, you might need to hire a website professional to help you, and ask your website host to help with the recommendations concerning your web server’s configuration.
