Joomla was born on August 17th 2005, though the name didn’t actually come into use until September 1st of that same year. The name is the English spelling of the Arabic word which means “all together.” Joomla 1.5 is certainly all together. It is a significant upgrade from its predecessor versions, and well worth checking out.

Compared to the popular WordPress blogging software, for example, Joomla does require a bit of extra effort to get to grips with it. Once that has been mastered, any comparison with blogging software fades into obscurity. This is a powerful, robust and serious platform for any website. Is it the perfect platform? It very nearly is!
