Quite new to joomla and have tried to play around with a few free hosts but have always found it to be less than perfect. Lots of error 404 etc when installing components/modules and so fourth.

So can someone please recommend me some good affordable hosts for a small portfolio website and most importantly, joomla compatible. Site will contain small video clips and images roughly hitting 500mb so anything above that is cool.

Ive been hearing a mixture of things from justhost.com but the “unlimited” descriptions make me raise an eyebrow.

I am using joomla to build a website, it isn’t a business website, its just one I mess around with. I noticed today, as i built it yesterday that you can’t login as a normal user. When you try to login no boxes appear for you to enter you details, can anyone help me?

On the side menu click on login and you will see that no boxes appear to enter your details, also you can’t login to the forum either (which is with the same password as the other login page)

You can register with the website just not login.

What is your favorite (free) CMS software? Joomla? Drupal? Which one have you tried and compared? Why do you like it? Which is best for a visual designer (someone that doesn’t want to deal with coding?)

I have my website www.alldesignwoodlands.com and when i try to log in to edit the joomla it wont let me all it says is:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: stripos() in /homepages/0/d265396404/htdocs/aaaaajoomla/libraries/joomla/environment/uri.php on line 675
I fixed that problem no i have a new one okay, on www.shepherdmedia.net (my website) i setup jooomla and i cant login to edit it what do i do also my host is 1and1!

I’m running Joomla 1.0.14 and every now then I’ll get booted from the system for some reason; but now, pretty much every day, I’ll try to go and log back in and it wont let me. The password and user name will be right; it doesn’t say they’re wrong either – it processes the page like it’s taking me to the main administrator page, only to come back to the log-in page.
I have no idea why it’s doing this – I was on this morning, logged off fine; now what has to be around 10 hours later, it wont let me back in. What’s going on?
I can’t find anything of use from the site linked about MySQL. I was able to get into Joomla just fine, for the longest time; and over the last few weeks, it’s just gotten worse and worse. It started off getting booted out every once in a while; to this week, where I can only seem to be able to log in once a day!

I know there are a load of posts on the net relating to people who can’t log in to their Joomla admin areas (I am using Joomla 1.5). What happens is that the pass/user combo seem to be accepted, but the login page just refreshes without actually letting you in.

You can tell that the pass/user combo has been accepted because there are no error messages when the page refreshes. Try typing in the wrong password and you WILL see an error message.

That’s not the problem here. The pass/user combo is valid.

I have gone into PHPMyAdmin and ensured that jos_plugins > User – Joomla! is set to ‘1′. The site is also ‘live’ according to PHPMyAdmin.

So the user/pass is valid and these two ‘fixes’ (which have been recommended to many in forums are not relevant.

This is a ‘local’ install using XAMPP, not a web install. I have already started over from scratch twice, and I have already used the standard copy and paste text that creates a new user with the MD5-hashed password ’secret’. None of these things have helped.

I don’t see the point in starting over a third time if there is no solution to this almost random inability to log in.

I note that this problem crops up when I change anything in ‘Global Settings’ when I am successfully logged into the Joomla back-end.

Hi,

I need to know this thing because I have to apply it at work…

How can I create my personal Joomla template from scratch. Imagine you create a template with photoshop and a bit of flash. Now, you export such template by slicing it and exporting it to an application like dreamweaver (I am talking about a normal html static website at this point).

My question is, how I can create the same template (with Photoshop and Flash) and then using it as a Joomla template?

Please I really need to know how this is done because I am going to start working on this website after this weekend. (The client already has an idea of how the template will look like and that is why I have to create it with photoshop and flash and then using it in Joomla, because they want the site to be content managed).

Hi, Iam having a hard time installing Joomla with localhost through wamp. can you please help me. I have tried watching the videos on youtube and they all look different than Joomla Iam trying to use. I have downloaded 1.5 full zip file.

But I cant figure out were to actually install it at? Can you please help me. I think I am now suppost to put it in the address field like this :

localhost/mywebsite

That’s what I named the file ( mywebsite) but it wont work!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Which module of CMS to create a site like: http://www.xpo-sure.co.za/

I want to know If that can be done with Joomla or Mambo or even Drupal. I want to design a free online listing forum in my small home town. I also want to intergrate the pay-per-click service. Which modules or which CMS can I use to go about creating something like it.

If possible, please also suggest a few good php and mySQL website where I can get source codes and discussion forums.
